10 Things That You Didn’t Know About Queen Victoria of England

  • Queen Victoria wore a white satin gown trimmed with lace on her wedding day, helping establish the modern tradition of white wedding dresses. Before Victoria, brides often wore dresses of many different colors. On February 10, 1840, she married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace. Their marriage was unusually affectionate for a royal union, and Victoria openly expressed her deep love for Albert. Together they had nine children, who would later marry into royal families across Europe.
