  • The full name of Queen Victoria was Alexandrina Victoria. She was named Alexandrina after Tsar Alexander I of Russia, one of her godparents. However, upon ascending the throne in 1837, the young queen chose to reign simply as Victoria. The name Alexandrina was rarely used afterward, and even as a child she was generally known by her family nickname, “Drina.”
