1) Buying a Betamax because they were so sure that it was the way of the future.
During the ’80s, many people invested in either a VCR or a Betamax whilst many believed that the smart money was definitely on Betamax. The Betamax was so popular that Sony sold around 2.3 million recorders in just 1984 alone. But today it seems that 2.3 million people had bet on the wrong horse, it seems that now Betamax machines aren’t even something that people get nostalgic about. It’s safe to say that it is seen as the technology that nobody ever wants to admit that they owned.
