4. Attila the Hun
He spent his whole life attacking and conquering a wide assortment of countries, but he died in a rather innocuous way. Attila was the ruler of the Huns from 434 AD until 453 AD. A leader of a group of nomads hardly sounds like the description of a man feared by most of humanity, but the Huns used their expertise in mounted archery to dominate their foes. Attila was a perpetual thorn in the side of the splintered Roman Empire. He sacked their cities and took captives that he ransomed. Alas, he was stopped by a nosebleed that caused him to choke to death at his own wedding.
